Chemistry students put their measurement skills to the test Friday! Using an overflow displacement setup, they determined the volume of several known-material cubes and used those measurements with mass to calculate each cube’s density. Then, students applied the same process to two mystery cubes to help identify their materials. They then evaluated the quality of their results by calculating percent error and discussing possible sources of experimental error.
Great work using observations, data, calculations, and critical thinking like scientists!

One of the best parts of teaching is watching students light up as they discover a hidden microscopic world. Our A&P students first practiced microscope skills using loropetalum leaves, then put those skills to work examining pond water and identifying organisms like hydra, amoebas, and ciliated protists. They used reverse image searches to investigate their discoveries and connect what they observed to reputable scientific sources. This week, we’re taking the next step with a visit to the LaSalle Parish Library to explore research databases and other resources that can take their investigations even further. Hands-on science. Real research. Curious minds. This is learning beyond the classroom!

Today’s Chemistry lab was all about hands-on learning. Students practiced measuring liquids using colored water, sharpening the skills they’ll need when we begin working with chemicals. Their focus and teamwork set the stage for safe, successful experiments ahead.

🛠️ Hands-On Learning at JHS! 📏

Students in Mrs. Garcia’s Carpentry I class put their tape measure reading skills to the test in the shop today with a hands-on measurement activity!

Students learned the importance of precision and accuracy—skills they’ll soon apply to real-world projects as they work toward earning their industry-based credentials.

We love seeing our Giants building skills for the future! 🖤💛

We’re off and running! On their first day back, Mrs Kendrick's students jumped into Neuro Athletics drills designed to boost concentration, reaction speed, and hand‑eye coordination. These fun activities help “wake up” the brain and prepare students for success in the classroom.
