We are enrolling! We have 2 immediate openings in our 24 month - 30 month old classroom and 3 immediate openings in our 4 - 5 year old classroom. We accept current RVR-CCDF families. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30am - 5:00pm. All Teaching Staff and Administrators have a Child Development Associate Credential or higher in Early Childhood Education. Yesterday was the start of Teacher/ Staff Appreciation week. Thanks to Connors family for bringing muffins to share, to Amber our staff member for bringing us a bag of cookies. Today Molly helped her mom deliver coffee drinks, and set donuts up for us. Amber brought each staff person a little gift box.

Did you know…That when teachers actively engage in children's learning and share decision-making during play, and listen to their ideas and thoughts, they are helping to stimulate their thinking and experiences, and to enrich their learning…The toddlers have fun with Ms. Ashton in the dramatic center!

Did you know…Play improves the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children. Through play, children learn about the world and themselves. They learn to work together, share, take turns, work out conflicts, problem solve and much more. These toddlers worked on building the track and had fun driving their cars on it.

Did you know that when we allow children to play they learn, to develop problem-solving skills, conflict resolution, nurture creativity.
It encourages relationship-building.
promotes and motivates exploration. Look at the children’s excitement as they play.

We just won a $500 Grassroots Grant from .org and ! With the award, The River Ridge Learning Center will introduce our children to gardening in a raised garden bed. Where they can plant vegetable seeds, care for them and watch them grow. They can then help harvest the vegetables and give them to our Head Cook to prepare and serve ...yummy!!

KIDS SAY THE FUNNIEST THINGS!
This week a child got picked up right as she was getting ready to have lunch so I lovingly packed her lunch (that I prepared) to go.
Child looks down at the food, looks up at me, looks back down and looks up saying…”I’m just going to ask my mom to make me lunch”, as she hands it back to me….I love that child. it was a good lunch, chicken leg, rice, peas n carrots and peaches. I was told by the teachers that the children ate it.

Our young toddlers turning an empty box into a masterpiece. How amazing is this to see how everyone works together as a group, yet expresses their unique self through what they draw. No pushing, pulling, grabbing, crying…just learning to work beside each other to create a piece of beauty!

One of our OMWPK students proudly shows me the art work that his classmates did. What’s really cool is that this is “community art” where several children painted their piece together. How awesome is that collaboration, teamwork, sharing, taking turns, conversation’s (social development), and getting along with each other…so when you look at your child’s artwork, think of all these skills your child is learning and recognize the untold story behind the beauty!
