The first day with all students at JMS was a special one! 💛 Our 6th graders were welcomed by the JMS student body for the very first time, officially beginning their next chapter as middle school students.

Our first graders had an exciting week filled with hands-on learning and special experiences!

🦋 First graders released a butterfly that was generously donated by a Sullivan family.

🥕 Ms. Petersen’s class also harvested vegetables grown in our school garden! The fresh produce will be offered to all students during lunch.

A Great Start at East Elementary! 🇺🇸

East Elementary held its annual Opening Ceremony to officially kick off another exciting school year! The morning included the raising of the flag, the Pledge of Allegiance, an introduction to our newest staff members, and inspirational words from Principal Mr. Wichman. 🍎📚

100 New Books for Our Book Vending Machine! 📚

This past week, we were excited to receive a generous donation of 100 books for our book vending machine! These books were donated through the Modern Woodmen of America Social Chapter ### as part of their “Getting Books into Children’s Hands” project.

A special thank you to Amy Spangler for arranging this wonderful donation and to Mike and Stephan Levandoski for delivering the books to our school! ❤️

We are so grateful for the generosity and support of our community and can’t wait to get these new books into the hands of our students! 📖

We are EXCITED to introduce the newest staff member joining our Jefferson family! Today, we're welcoming Angela Hembrook, our new 5K Paraprofessional!

Take a moment to get to know Angela below! 👇

🔴 Prior to taking on her new role as Mrs. Paar’s 5K para, Angela served as a lead two-year-old teacher at an ELC. Although she will miss her littles so much, she looks forward to this next chapter with the kindergarteners, Mrs. Paar, and the East community.

🟡 Outside of school, Angela enjoys reading, walking, kayaking, and catching live music with her husband, Dustin, and daughter, Ella. Her family also includes a Newfie named Joy and two kitties named Poppy and Lottie.

Our middle schoolers are settling into their routines, building connections, and getting to know what learning at JMS is all about!

🤝 Mr. Slotten’s Tech Ed class participated in a Community Circle activity designed to help students break the ice, connect with classmates, and get to know one another.

➗ 7th-grade math students in Mrs. Phelps’ class were introduced to their standing stations, where they collaborated with peers and worked together to tackle the curriculum.

Let’s take another look at 6th Grade Only Day! 💛📚

Our 6th graders at JMS had a fantastic day getting ready for their next big adventure! Students practiced navigating the building and following their schedules, organized their lockers, practiced with their locks, learned about “The Jefferson Way,” and, of course, had some fun along the way! 🎉

The transition from elementary school to middle school is a big one, and our 6th graders did an awesome job! We’re so excited to have them officially join the JMS family! 🙌
