A huge thank you to Greene County Development Corporation (GCDC) Executive Director Greg Piklapp, American Athletic's Kristen Russell, and GCDC for sponsoring our 2026 Manufacturing Day Field Trip. Forty-five students started the morning with breakfast provided by GCDC and then broke into two groups.

One group traveled to American Athletic to meet with Kristen Russell and her team for a tour and an informational session. The other group met in the auditorium with Greg Piklapp to hear about job opportunities in the manufacturing industry here in Greene County and around the country. Students learned about different careers including jobs available in the data center industry. Both groups then switched.

Thank you to our multi-cultural director Sara Huddleston and instructors Jerredd Elken, Matthew Fiedler, Ethan Martin, and Maddie VanSickle for helping chaperone and coordinate our field trip.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming! This can’t-miss event gets kids excited about reading and earns funds for our school. SAVE THE DATE for October 19th-22nd and start exploring together: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/greenecomiddleschool

The Book Fair will be open during both Parent Teacher Conference nights! Tuesday Oct. 20th and Thursday Oct. 22nd, as well as during the school day. Students can shop with permission during the school day, and during each grade lunch period!

A big thank you to PTA Deonne Robey from 21st Century Rehab who came to our nurse aide course to talk to the students about body mechanics and transferring, ambulating, and repositioning residents. Career academy healthcare instructors Lori DeMoss and Cindi Daubendiek assisted as Deonne instructed the students on how to properly use gait belts.

Industrial Technology Student Project
Greene County High School Senior student, Lincoln Olsem, recently machined and fabricated a ruggedized bench vise as part of his advanced milling machine operations class. The entire project consisted of 15 different components that were machined on a manual lathe or manual milling machine before being welded together. A big shout out to our friends at Power Lift in Jefferson for donating the steel for this student project! Lincoln has made a very nice generational tool that should serve him well for years to come.

Unfortunately, due to rain, we will have some changes to Homecoming celebrations this afternoon. The parade is canceled. The pep rally and coronation will start at 3:00 in the high school auditorium. Please join us to celebrate before the big game tonight! (2 hr. early dismissal will occur as planned)

All Greene County Schools will have a 2-hour early dismissal tomorrow, Friday, September 25th, 2026.

Buses will still run their regular routes/times, just 2 hours earlier.

🎉 Celebrating 60 years of citizen diplomacy with the Iowa-Yucatan Partners! 🇲🇽🇺🇸

To mark this milestone, traditional Mexican dance troupe **Alma Danza** is bringing vibrant cultural performances from Yucatan and Veracruz to Jefferson on **Friday, September 25, 2026**:

• **5:30 PM** – Special performance at the Greene County Community Center

• **Halftime** – Performing "La Bamba" alongside the Greene County High School Band during the homecoming football game

Brought to you by the Multicultural Family Resource Center, Greene County CSD, Iowa Economic Development Authority, Iowa International Center, and Iowa-Yucatan Partners. Come experience this incredible cross-cultural celebration!
