Hi friends!
It's time to sign up for our Fall CSA boxes! These are a 4 week, prepaid subscription and must be paid one month in advance. You will receive a produce box for each week of four weeks in October, November & December. These can be purchased either a month, 2 months or all 3 months at a time .

Small CSA- enough for 1-2 people - four weeks - $75/month
Large CSA- enough for 3 to 5 people - four weeks - $125/month

Payments due as follows:
October payment is due September 1st
November payment is due October 1st
December payment is due November 1st

Payment options are: Venmo (Sweet-Harvest-1, last 4 of cell 2904);

or we can send an invoice to your email if you'd like to pay by card,

or you may mail cash or check to Sweet Harvest c/o Jefferson Christian Academy, 3060 FM 728, Jefferson, Tx 75657)

Hi friends!! I can't even believe I am saying this buuuuutttt......We have started planting for the fall!!!!

We have started our fall tomatoes, butternut squash, acorn squash & spaghetti squash.

We are also getting our carrots and broccoli going.

There is so much prep work that goes on behind the scenes in between seasons. No down time around here, but we wouldn't have it any other way!

After we tear everything out of the greenhouses, hoop houses and garden spaces from our spring plants we have to amend the soil, repair water lines, re-make our beds and cover them to keep them ready for the fall planting. This gives the soil time to rest in between growing seasons.

We are gearing up for another wonderful fall season of our subscription boxes as well as our Tuesday's at the Panola County Fresh Market.

Watch for the post in a few weeks if you would like to sign up for one of our fall subscription boxes. We will have both the small and large boxes available again.

We have SO much eggplant we're having a flash sale!!!!

$1/LB (normally $2/LB) Just post it here if you'd like some!

Did you know there are more kinds of eggplant than just the traditional ones you see in pictures and at the grocery store?!

This year we were QUITE surprised at some of the varieties that popped up in our garden. We thought we were planting just the traditional black beauty eggplant but we were in for some fun surprises!

Here are all the varieties that we grew!

Black Beauty/Italian Eggplant: creamy, white flesh and mild flavor. Perfect for eggplant parmesan, baba ganoush and ratatouille.

Nadia Black Beauty: a gardeners favorite for having fewer seeds and a mild flavor

Long Green Thai Eggplant: prized for it's non-bitter taste and thin skin. It requires no peeling and is a staple for stir fries, curries and braised dishes.

Striped Italian Eggplant: Known for being sweeter, requiring no peeling and holding their color well when cooked.

Indian Eggplant: this variety is highly praised for its ability to absorb deep, earthy spices. They have a more buttery flesh than a traditional eggplant.

Rosita Eggplant:These are your heirloom variety. Also known for their sweet white flesh.

Masego Eggplant: These have a very mild flavor making them excellent to be made into chips, used in casseroles or stir fries.

Asian Eggplant:this variety cooks incredibly fast and is highly absorbent, making it ideal for steaming or roasting.

Hey everyone! The summer heat is upon us and the tomato plants in the greenhouse do NOT like it! We have lots of tomatoes right now, so if you have plans to put up salsa or sauce, now is the time!
We don't expect to have this many in July.

We sell our tomatoes at $3.50 per pound but, if you buy a half-bushel (26.5 lbs) or more, the price is only $2.25 per pound! Hi friends!! It has been a very busy few weeks. Our beautiful vegetables are growing nicely. It has been so much fun to watch the greenhouses fill in.

This week was the first week of April CSA boxes! They turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!!! As the weeks progress we will continually have more vegetables and herbs ready so the variety will continue to increase.

We are faithfully checking and praying over our little veggies to grow up big and strong. We are so close to having tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, carrots and so much more!

This week our boxes included a variety of:
Arugula
Basil
Beets
Cilantro
Cheap Frills (spicy mustard mix)
Garlic Scapes
Green Beans
Green Onions
Hakurei Turnips
Kale
Microgreens
Radishes
Rainbow Swiss Chard
Spinach

If you are interested in participating in our CSA boxes we do still have availability for June boxes. The small box feeds 1-2 people and is $75. The large feeds 3-4 people and is $125.

Payment is due by May 1 for June CSA boxes.

We will also offer CSA boxes again in the fall for October and November.

Hi friends!
It's time to sign up for our Spring CSA boxes!

This year we are offering 2 different sizes. We are offering a small box which would be for a small family (1-2 people) or a large which would be a for a larger family (3-5) people. The large boxes would be the same size as the boxes we offered in the fall.

They are both a 4 week, prepaid subscription. They must be prepaid one month before the subscription starts. They can be paid via Venmo (Sweet Harvest-JCA, last 4 of cell 2904) or we can send an invoice to your email address if you'd like to pay by card.

Small CSA boxes $75/month
Large CSA boxes $125/month

Each week you will receive a large variety of fresh, naturally grown, pesticide free produce from what we harvest and occasionally a baked treat. Our aim is to send enough to feed a family of four and the box value will be at least $35, maybe more. The small boxes would be valued $20 or more. This allows you to enjoy delicious, fresh veggies each week with a big savings as you support our local school farm.

You will receive a produce box for each week in April, May and/or June. These can be purchased either a month at a time, two months or all 3 months. Please let us know which month(s) you would like to purchase in your comment!

Hi friends!
We have been BUSY busy around here!
We have been pulling out the old plants from all the greenhouses and hoop houses.

Our students have been working hard at getting new seeds planted! We are dreaming big this year & believing with Him that our gardens will be successful!

So far we have planted:
800 spinach
1160 beets
3360 heads of garlic
5760 onions
1000 tomatoes
308 lettuces
225 hot peppers
510 sweet peppers
1728 brassicas & greens

We still have to plant peas, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, green beans, eggplant, okra, purple hull peas, radishes & turnips.

Yesterday we had about 14 cubic yards of compost delivered that we are excited to use in all of our houses and outside gardens. It was fun getting it all unloaded out of the dump trailer!
