They aren’t struggling because they aren’t smart. They’re struggling because their brain learns differently.

Every day, children with dyslexia walk into classrooms full of curiosity, creativity, and incredible potential. Yet many begin to believe they’re “not smart” simply because reading is harder for them than it is for their peers.

Reading difficulties are not a measure of intelligence. They are a sign that a child needs instruction that matches the way their brain learns.

When we replace frustration with understanding and the right support, confidence grows, strengths shine, and potential is unlocked.

Every child deserves the chance to discover what they’re truly capable of. 💙

I know as a parent, family member or a friend you want to do anything that you can to make speaking easier for us.

A lot of the time this means that you end up speaking for us, finishing our sentences for us or asking us another question to fill the awkward silence. Which, although you mean well, doesn’t really do much to help us.

Instead, try waiting and giving us the time we need to succeed! 💙

Not taking anything away from the professionals but it’s important to listen to the people with lived experience too. 💙
