LabSpace Robotics

LabSpace Robotics LabSpace Robotics: The place for hands-on STEM fun! We teach coding, robotics, game design, and engineering via Clubs and Camps. Find us at the Capital Mall!

We also host Birthday Parties and partner with Scouts/4H. LabSpace is a family-owned labor of love. We are working to bring affordable classes and activities to families. Our classes introduce students to things like robotics, programming, animation and game design. Subjects like these often have a high entry cost, or require a specialized set of skills that parents might not have. Because LabSpac

e has the equipment and experienced teachers, many more children and families can explore and be inspired. Hopefully, you’ll find a new passion to follow! We hope you enjoy your experience here today and that we’ll see you often in the future. It would help us if you could spread the word among your families and friends. Please post pictures of the fun you’re having today and share them. Please tag us so we can see what you enjoyed. We’re always looking for suggestions and ways to improve. Please share your ideas with us. If you are a member of a business or organization that would like to partner with us, we’d appreciate your help. There are some classes and activities that we’d love to bring in, but the cost is too much for us to take on alone. We know that the costs are prohibitive for many families and want to keep the expense to families as low as possible. Enjoy your visit and please take brochures to share with your friends! Sincerely,
The LabSpace Team

Ohh, so exciting! Miss Emily, our seasonal artist, is returning from her summer in Alaska and she has been working on these really cool masks and wants to do a workshop at LabSpace Robotics in October. I just thought I'd share my excitement!!

Yay! We had several families interested, so, the Family Dollhouse Workshop is scheduled! We'll be meeting Nov 7 and 14 to put your own finishing touches on these wooden dollhouses! Adults and children can work together to paint and paper their houses. We create several pieces of furniture during the workshop and Miss Bonnie and I will work on some kits for you to take home as well so you can continue creating at home.

Adult or Family Dollhouse workshop, anyone?

While we were working on our Dollhouses this summer, several grown-ups expressed interest. If you'd be interested in an adult or family workshop, comment to let us know!

I think that it would be fun for a younger child and adult to work on together. We'd probably do two 2-hour workshops. You'd be able to get it painted and get your walls papered.

Fall registration is open- it's hard to believe it's time for fall classes, but after a short break for jury duty, we're going to be jumping in!

We're still solidifying a few workshops (an adult/child dollhouse build and some 3D Printing workshops), but most of the schedule is ready to go!

Just message us with any questions or call (573) 645-0800. Here's the schedule link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTWyaF1Op_ZbZMyMzhjfA9ePpEabp2462x3LMwa4MDKcJSrMynjvMPyVA8rCzkA3bomgKSDJo3gEdTU/pub

Oh boy, it's time for Miss Annette to study hard!! We're going to be experimenting with Arduino boards, servos and NeoPixel lights in our Advanced STEM Clubs! I've spent a lot of time finding a drag and drop language to make it all more accessible for the students--way too much time!! After discarding six, I've settled on Mind+ by DFRobot. I'm finding it very stable and straight forward to use. It looks a little crazy at first glace, but it's all set up like Scratch, so the students will be familiar with the layout.

So, we'll have 10 weeks to get this all figured out and working with the goal of next semester creating some crazy robot parade floats!! Our advanced students needed more of a challenge, so, we'll be working to incorporate their new Arduino knowledge into their Robot Parade creations!

Lesson plans 1 and 2 are ready to go and I'll start on Lesson 3 --Servo Motors and Rock, Paper, Scissors tomorrow! We're going to do some amazing things this semester!
