I once met a lady who quit a job she had for years. As an instructor, I am always curious as to find out the whys in any situation so as to be able to find solutions for the future. Her response was simple "no one ever told me 'thank you' no matter what I did." Think about that. A simple thank you may help employers to keep employees. What about as a manager or position of authority? A thank you can make a difference if it is task specific and genuine. Take care of your employees and they will take care of you. Take care of your co workers and they will reciprocate. Be the best employer you can be and you will attract the best employees.

Employees are the foundation that a business is built on. Without a strong foundation, the business will develop weak spots. These weak spots can mean a decline in revenue, customer satisfaction, and job turnover. If you want good employees, be a good boss. Remember, people leave bosses, not jobs. Be a boss that encourages instead of criticizes and trains instead of expects people to just know a job. Your employees, like you, aren't perfect. Think about this. According to Forbes, 79% of the people that quit or leave their jobs state that they felt unappreciated by their bosses. People quit bosses, not their jobs. Repeat that. So, as a company, what do you do about this? How can you attract and keep quality employees? It starts with YOU. Do you know that, according to Forbes, 58% of employees trust a total stranger over their own bosses? When consulting, I had a client ask why did the lack of trust matter. So let me ask you. Do you need trust in a marriage? Do you need appreciation in a marriage? What about dedication, patience, encouragement vs degradation, teamwork, kindness, etc.? What is a marriage? A commitment between two people. What is a business? A commitment between employers and employees. If you want a better business, work on the commitment.
