🌾 CTE Classroom Highlight

What better way to kick off a unit on agriculture than in the outdoor classroom?! Our CTE Biotic Pathways students at Jefferson Middle School enjoyed exploring how agriculture connects to their everyday lives in more ways than they may realize! From the food we eat to the world around us, agriculture plays an important role in our daily lives.

Help support the JMS band with our fall virtual fundraiser by ordering some delicious Double Good popcorn! This event is also a charity fundraiser! 50% of profits go to the band to support instrument repairs and purchases, transportation costs, etc., and the other 50% goes toward the Double Good foundation to support students with special needs and exceptionalities! After an amazing success last year, we are continuing our JMS Athletic Chili Supper. Be sure to come hungry, enjoy some great chili, and be sure to check out our Silent Auction! We’ll have baskets and items available to bid on throughout the evening. Our student athletes are currently selling tickets and tickets will be sold at the door. To go boxes will be available as well.

🔨 Silent Auction bidding ends at 7:15 PM, so make sure to get your bids in before time runs out!

Bring the family, grab some chili, and help us support our JMS student athletes and athletic programs!

✨ Our JMS Elks had a spirited day celebrating the legacy of Dolly Parton with Dolly Day!

Students entered the building to some of Dolly’s legendary songs while teachers and students danced their way to class in their festive Dolly-inspired attire. Paper butterflies and beautiful Dolly posters created by our art students filled the hallways with a little extra sparkle! All day, our JMS Elks were encouraged to live and love like Dolly, and we hope to continue that mantra throughout our year!

Keep reading to explore some of the amazing projects and activities accomplished by our Elks to honor Dolly’s legacy:

Art students mixed their own custom colors to create a rainbow of vivid flowers and crafted 3D butterflies to adorn the walls. Students also pulled imagery from the movie 9-5 as well as created an image of Dolly herself on a banner.

Science students made magnetic coffee filter butterflies. They colored their coffee filters and used water to make a tye-dye effect and added magnets to the backs.

In music class, students completed a history lesson going over Dolly's rise to fame, musical career, and philanthropic legacy. The lesson was followed by Dolly Parton activities and a songwriting activity.

In band, students explored Dolly’s experience as a percussionist in the Sevier County High School Marching Band and her impact on the world of music and sight-read a band arrangement of "Islands in the Stream.”

In PE class, students learned a dance to the iconic "9 to 5”!

We were honored to celebrate the impact of Dolly on our community and world for generations to come! Go Dolly! Go Elks!
