MDA EFDA Program MDA Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Education Program

The expanded functions approved in the Missouri Dental Practice Act are categorized into one of the five EFDA courses (Restorative I, Restorative II, Orthodontics, Removable Prosthodontics and Fixed Prosthodontics). EFDA courses are designed to teach concepts and theory related to these functions (through the online curriculum) and to ensure skills competency (through the hands-on clinical portion

and grading) to certify assistants are capable of performing expanded functions to an appropriate standard of care.
