Student Spotlight!!!! Chloe Conlon

I’m originally from Marietta, Georgia. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Kennesaw State University and worked in the Cardiac ICU at Piedmont Atlanta.

I chose Carson-Newman because the faculty really care about us, not only as future healthcare providers, but also as individuals! From the very beginning, they made me feel very welcomed.

In the future, I’m most excited to begin clinicals and finally have the opportunity to apply everything I’ve been learning in the classroom while continuing to grow!

Our Nurse Anesthesia students are taking on full induction and emergence simulations, sharpening the critical thinking, teamwork, and clinical skills that prepare them for excellence in the OR. Every scenario is another step toward becoming exceptional CRNAs.

Student Spotlight!! German Lemus!

I’m originally from Honduras, and I immigrated to the United States when I was 14 years old. Since then, Tennessee has been my home for the past 10 years. Before beginning the Nurse Anesthesia program, I worked as a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) nurse in Knoxville.

I chose Carson-Newman because I earned my undergraduate nursing degree here, and from the very beginning, I felt at home. The faculty invested in me, believed in my potential, and genuinely wanted to see me succeed. Because of that supportive community, I knew Carson-Newman was where I wanted to continue my journey.

Over the next few years, I’m looking forward to growing as a student registered nurse anesthetist alongside my classmates while learning from an exceptional faculty. I’m especially excited about the mission trip during our senior year and the opportunity to give back by serving individuals who face language or access barriers to healthcare. As someone who comes from the Hispanic community, I’m passionate about helping bridge those gaps so every patient can receive the compassionate, high-quality care they deserve.

Happy 4th from C-N Anesthesia! 🇺🇸

Nothing says Independence Day like cookouts, fireworks, and a group of SRNAs trying to relax while still somehow talking about school.

Student Spotlight 🌟Madison Woldt🌟

I’m from Oshkosh, WI, which is where I got my BSN at University of Oshkosh-Wisconsin. I moved to Knoxville in 2023! I’ve been a CVICU nurse for the entirely of my nursing career and was lucky enough to get some experience as an ECMO specialist during my last year working bedside.

I chose to go to Carson-Newman because of the culture. The professors feel like family, they care about us like we are their own children and are dedicated to not only teaching us but also in making us better people.

What I’m looking forward to most is going on the mission trip that the program is putting together for us to go on as SRNA’s!

A huge shoutout to Dr. McNeill for providing the DNAP cohort with popsicles on a hot summer Friday!☀️🍦

The Carson-Newman University Anesthesia students enjoyed a frozen treat before practicing advanced airway techniques, including fiberoptic intubation, video laryngoscopy, and cricothyrotomy.

Student Spotlight!! Kelly Robinson!

I am a Maryville, TN native, mom to two wonderful children, and a wife to a loving husband. I graduated from Pellissippi Community College with my ASN in 2017 and then got my BSN from East Tennessee State University in 2018. I’ve spent my entire nursing career in the ICU, moving through MSICU, NICU, and CVICU, and I can’t imagine having done it any other way. Critical care is where I feel most at home.

I chose Carson-Newman University because the faculty stood out to me immediately. Not just in terms of credentials, but in the way they actually care about their students. That combination of expertise and genuine investment in people is hard to find, and I knew it mattered.

As for what I’m most excited about, honestly it’s the hard stuff. Learning to place central lines, navigating high-stakes situations, being the person in the room who knows what to do. The moments that used to scare me most as a nurse were always the ones that taught me the most, and I’m ready to lean into that.

Student Spotlight! Chloe Manley

I’m from Phoenix, Arizona and I went to nursing school in Jackson, Mississippi at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where I also worked in the medical ICU!

I chose Carson-Newman University because I felt comfortable and supported from the first time I walked into the building for my interview!

I’m most excited to start clinicals in January of next year. I am eager to begin to apply what we have learned while gaining experience from my preceptors and peers to become the best CRNA I can be!
