Mutual Aid would like to express our sincere condolences to those closest to Sam, and to our colleagues at the Charleston Volunteer Fire Department. Our thoughts are with you.

This weekend we lost one of our own. Sam Davis Fire fighter, family, friend, hero, No words will ever do you justice. Sam was one of those people that you couldn’t be grumpy around. His smile and laughter was infectious. He lit us the room when he would walk in. So eager to help and would give you the shirt off his back. Loving, caring, compassionate… being a hero and saving lives right till the end and even after. Sam was an organ donor and minutes before his honor walk into the surgery room the organ donor coriander walked into the room and said “we found a recipient for his heart. We found a match!” He saved so many lives even after he was gone. This past weekend and yesterday was a hard one mentally and physically, heartbreaking and devastating. Sam will be missed beyond words. RIP my friend. We got it from here.

We have a shout out this morning !
We’d like to thank 3 local tow companies for their support at our recent fire school. These 3 companies not only hauled vehicles for our car fire class, they also came back and picked them up when we were done, in a very timely fashion. That’s a wrap ! The 2026 version of the NEIMA Regional Fire School is now archived. We’ve got a ton of shout-outs here … we’d like to thank the Career Center for hosting us as always, the lunch folks , our sponsors (Jay Peak , Newport Rotary, VT Horse Council)- without them the cost per department rises ! Our great team of instructors , and all our passionate volunteers. Lilly Young, Meg Carter, Sandy Leonard , Steve Mayo, Phil Marquette, Steve Roberts and more will come to mind.
There’s more … a big thanks to some great local tow companies for getting us vehicles to train on - Rays , Grenier’s and Wrights you guys are awesome. The City of Newport , their public works department , Casella , C&C Market.

Our Regional Fire School is next weekend, April 25th & 26th, but do you know about NEIMA After Hours?

Join us for a great night of camaraderie, conversation, and connection with fellow members of the fire service.

NEIMA will once again be hosting our 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 event featuring 𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻, Chief of the Skowhegan Fire Department and owner of 𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗜𝗔𝗖 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. This is a fantastic opportunity to network with peers, talk through hot topics in today’s fire service, and enjoy some well-earned downtime with good food and drinks.
