Huge thank you to Jay Fire and Rescue 🚒 for joining us for Fire Safety today during fire safety week! The kids got to see all the firefighting gear and got some important tips on how to stay safe in an emergency. They even got to see our own Ms. Lecowitch climb the ladder truck!

This week's Staff Spotlight is on our wonderful food services/kitchen staff! From prepping ingredients and cooking, to serving meals, keeping the kitchen clean and organized, and making sure everything runs smoothly; there’s a lot that goes into feeding our school each day. We appreciate everything you do to keep our SMES community happy, healthy, and well-fed!

For nearly four years, SMES has had amazing volunteers who have dedicated time each week to helping make sure our students have access to hats, boots, mittens, clothing, winter coats, and snow gear.

With generous donations from Maine Needs, great finds from end-of-season sales, and a recent grant from Androscoggin Bank, this program continues to grow! Students can visit the SMES greenhouse during recess to browse and pick out items they need.

We are incredibly grateful to these volunteers and everyone who helps make this resource available to our students and families. Questions or looking for more information? Please reach out to our school social worker, Jenn Stone!
