Our middle school art classes completed their first project of the year (tissue paper stained-glass). In class, they discussed how the earliest art forms often had to fit into practical needs, like pre-historic decorated pottery or stained glass in 1000-year-old cathedrals. In the process, the students learned the importance of brainstorming ideas using quick pencil studies and refining the chosen idea with a color study.
