The Jasper County Historical Commission and the Jasper County Historical Museum share an important mission: preserving the stories, places, people, and history that make Jasper County special.

One thing many people may not realize is that these organizations are not simply funded by the City or County. Much of what we are able to accomplish is made possible through community donations, grants, fundraising, volunteers, and the generosity of people who believe our history is worth preserving.

Every program, historical project, educational opportunity, exhibit, event, and effort to promote heritage tourism takes resources. We work hard to stretch every dollar and to use those resources in ways that serve our community well.

Both the Jasper County Historical Commission and the Jasper County Historical Museum take great pride in Jasper County. We preserve its history, share its stories, welcome visitors, support tourism, and help ensure that future generations understand the community that came before them.

But we cannot do it alone.

When you donate, volunteer, attend an event, share one of our posts, become a supporter, or simply tell someone about the work being done, you become part of preserving Jasper County’s story.

We hope our community will continue to stand behind these organizations and the people who work so hard to protect our local history.

Our history belongs to all of us — and preserving it takes all of us. ❤️

We're looking for volunteers to audition for our haunted jail taking place on October 30th and 31st. Auditions will take place at the Jasper Public Library. We're asking that you dress up in your best creepy asylum costume, and if selected, confirm the dates you are available to volunteer.
