Bulldog Proud would like to recognize three fabulous sisters who are making a difference.

Berenice Villalpando, JHS Class of 2012 is a Project Engineer with CDI Engineering Solutions, LLC in Houston, Texas. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Lamar University.

Dr. Luz Villalpando, JHS Class of 2016 is an Orthopedic Hand and Upper Extremity Therapist in Houston, Texas. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Lamar University and her Doctor in Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Liz Villalpando, JHS Class of 2020 is finishing up a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Lamar University. She is a research student in the McNair Scholars program and serves as a Building Attendant at the Setzer Student Center.

The sisters will tell you that their degrees would not have been possible without the support of the Jasper community. As daughters of Mexican immigrants who have and still work minimum wage jobs, scholarships were their saving grace. They wanted to return and give back to the same community that helped them. In the spring of 2023, the sisters founded the Villalpando Sisters Scholarship to support a Hispanic/Latina student hoping to pursue higher education. The scholarship exemplifies ambition, diligence, hard work and passion - all things that the Villalpando Sisters practice daily.

Bulldog Proud has to brag about Judge Mitch Templeton, who serves the 172nd State Dist. Ct. (2019 to present).
He is a 1982 graduate of Jasper High School. A 1986 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and 1991 graduate of the Univ. of Houston Law Center, Judge Templeton practiced Civil and Criminal Trial law for 28 years before running for his current office. He was an associate with the Strong Pipkin, and Benkenstien Oxford firms before becoming a founding partner at Chambers, Templeton, Cashiola and Thomas. He is the first Republican, ever elected to a District bench in Jefferson County, Texas. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Janelle Templeton, CPA. They raised two sons in Beaumont and spend a significant amount of their spare time at family homesteads in Jasper County. Judge Templeton also enjoys driving horse teams and riding dual-sport motorcycles.

Bulldog Proud is celebrating Dr. Daunte' Cauley! Dr. Cauley currently serves at the Senior Health Promotion Specialist at Texas Children’s Hospital where he oversees the wellbeing of 16,000 employees. In this position, Dr. Cauley assists Texas Children’s Hospital employees with opportunities for better physical, emotional, financial, and overall wellbeing with health behavior interventions and evidenced based best practices.

Prior to working with Texas Children’s Hospital, and Harris County Public Health, Dr. Cauley began his career with Texas A&M School of Public Health, working with the Southwest Rural Research Center, and the Center for Population Health and Aging.
Dr. Cauley’s research is focused on access to care for underserved and at-risk populations. Dr. Cauley has worked in the in various arenas, with a broad background in community health and health education, with specific training and expertise in chronic disease prevention, cancer outreach, and development of Community Health Resource Centers in underserved areas of Texas.
Dr. Cauley obtained his Bachelor of Science in Community Health in 2014, Master of Health Education in 2016, and Doctor of Public Health in 2021, all from Texas A&M University. Dr. Cauley is a 2010 Jasper High School graduate!

A’HUA! Sparkling Agua Fresca tied for second place in the 10th Annual H-E-B Quest for Texas Best contest. Saulo Arriaga and Adan Arriaga took home a $25,000 prize.
