🚚 Food Truck Mania at N2! Our 8th graders just wrapped up an incredible, hands-on project where they built and ran their very own food truck businesses.
This deep dive into entrepreneurship required our students to master real-world skills across multiple subjects. Before serving a single dish, they studied city zoning laws, calculated construction material needs, and earned certificates in food safety.
Next came the creativity and hard work. Students designed and built custom food trucks out of cardboard, launched marketing campaigns, built functional websites, and designed customer punch cards.
The highlight of the project: the food truck festival. Our student chefs baked and cooked a wide variety of items, serving up an amazing menu that included a sampling of:
* 🌮 Fresh tacos and pizza
* 🧆 Savory meatballs
* 🍌 Freshly baked banana bread, cookies, and cake
* 🍧 Refreshing slushes and snow cones
The night ended with students practicing customer service, managing transactions, and gathering customer reviews. They gained priceless, real-world insight into every single facet of creating, running, and managing a business.
A massive thank you to our incredible N2 8th-grade teachers and staff for organizing this unforgettable experience, and congratulations to our hard-working students for making the evening a huge success!

CSI Day at Edison was a "crime-solving" success! Thank you to Mr. Meyer, Mrs. Meyer, Mrs. Koel, and Mrs. Chilar for transforming the LMC into four thrilling crime scenes featuring Princess Peach, Principal Spranger, Stephen Curry, and Justin Bieber!
Students became detectives for the day—grabbing case files, solving math problems, and cracking each case with teamwork and critical thinking. It was a day full of mystery, collaboration, and so much fun!
Thank you to our amazing teachers for making learning so interactive and exciting!

Please join us in congratulating Angie Denewellis, eighth-grade teacher at Edison Middle School, on her retirement! Her career in the School District of Janesville spanned 28 years!
Before joining the SDJ, Angie earned her bachelor's degree in education from UW-Whitewater. She later earned her Master's degree in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University.
"(The students) know how much I care about them," she said. "I am still invited to graduations, baby showers, bridal showers and weddings. I have been so honored when I have been chosen to appear at Teacher Appreciation Night for sports and the arts. The students will forever hold a place in my heart. I was inspired by so many.
"The educators in the Janesville School District go above and beyond to ensure that studnets receive a comprehensive and complete education. They are committed to not only teaching academics but also instilling values such as respect, responsibility and empathy."
Congratulations, Angie, and thank you for your years of dedicated service. We hope you find retirement equally fulfilling!
