TEACHERS!!!! A new school year is nearly upon us! If you've got a new, creative idea for your classroom....we want to know about it! Follow the directions below to send us your grant applications!

SMILE FOR SAMMY!

Special T-shirts honoring the memory of the late Sam Loizzo are currently available for purchase as part of the "Smile for Sammy" fundraiser to benefit the Janesville Education Foundation!

Loizzo, a former teacher at Joseph A. Craig High School, was known by many as the photographer who attended countless Craig and Parker High School - Janesville, WI sporting events, capturing years of memories for local athletes -- often free of charge.

The shirts, which include an image of Loizzo on both the front and back, sell for $15 each and are available in youth and adult sizes and in Craig blue, Parker green, grey and white. The goal is to recognize Loizzo by having as many people as possible wear the shirts to the upcoming Craig/Parker boys' basketball game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Craig.

All proceeds from shirt sales will benefit the JEF.

Here's a really cool example of what one of our grants went for last Spring! 3rd Grade Teacher, Julie Jenson from Roosevelt shared this video with us and had this to say about her grant project:

"I often apply for these grants because I am constantly looking for ways to extend, enrich, and enhance the things that I do with my students. My project is called Owl Exploration. My students will be doing hands-on activities around the topic of owls, owl ecosystems, owl food webs, and the dissection of owl pellets. I received enough owl pellets for both my class and my other third grade challenge teammate, Ashley Lownik's class. This owl dissection project enhanced and extended the learning that the students received in science class, and it empowered the students to learn, explore, and discover while they worked! I thought all of my students were engaged and on task for the entire time we were dissecting! 🙂"
