This month’s “ Warhawks Who Rocks” is Owen Erickson.

Owen is our new Student Experience Coordinator! He looks forward to working with Rock SGA and student clubs to build a vibrant campus life filled with meaningful and engaging programs. Owen is a first-generation college graduate, earning his Associate of Arts degree from a tribal and community college, followed by a Bachelor’s in psychology and educational studies from the College of St. Scholastica! Outside of work, he enjoys engaging with the community, volunteering, meeting new friends, and exploring the towns and natural areas around him. Please stop and say hello if you see Owen around campus!

Mark your calendars for Warhawk Welcome Day! Join us on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the UW-Whitewater at Rock County campus.

At this year's welcome event, students will have the chance to meet fellow new students, connect with staff and instructors, attend break-out sessions that answer questions about college life, and learn more about university resources. Students will also have the opportunity to take a campus tour and pick up textbooks. This event is designed to help students discover ways to become active members of the URock campus community. Lunch and games will be provided.

Our "Warhawk Who Rocks" is Nic Thompson. Nic is the new Advisor & Student Success Coach at URock.

Nic is excited to return to UW–Whitewater at Rock County as an Academic Advisor & Success Coach. Before accepting this role, he served as a Student Conduct Investigator in the UW–Whitewater Dean of Students Office. Returning to UW–Whitewater at Rock County feels like coming home, as he previously served as the UW–Whitewater Police Department's Rock Liaison Officer from 2022–2025 after beginning his career with the UW–Whitewater Police Department in 2002.

Nic is excited to reconnect with the campus community and looks forward to supporting the success of UW–Whitewater at Rock County students, faculty, and staff.
