Sigma Kappa Delta was formed under the auspices of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society serving four-year institutions.

Sigma Kappa Delta was created April 21, 1996, in Chicago, Illinois. The organization was incorporated in 1996 in the state of Missouri as a not-for-profit educational entity. Its central purpose is to confer distinction upon outstanding students of the English language and literature in undergraduate studies. Welcome to Banned Books Week 2021! As always, the scavenger hunt's on, and Joe McKearn has found the first piece of contraband----Tayeb Salih's novel Season of Migration to the North, banned in the author's native Sudan for a period of time starting in 1989 because its graphic sexual imagery offended the Islamic government.
