Fire breaks out in historic Lake House Inn near Edgerton 01/05/2026

The Historic Lake House Inn holds a special place in the collective heart of The Society for Anomalous Studies. We spent countless hours there over several years conducting investigations, doing historical research, presenting evidence, and sipping the occasional Brandy Old Fashion.

Through our investigations and research, we discovered countless stories from its past. The building and the land it sat on were more than a property. It was a touch stone into early Rock County history.

From a paranormal perspective, it was a location we were grateful to have been able to investigate many times over several years. The interactions never disappointed us. One particular 2AM investigation session in the basement still brings up a shiver and a grin. From the basement, the former dance hall on the first floor, the hotel upstairs and even activity captured outside the building, it was a once in a lifetime locations we will never forget.

This is a huge loss and our sympathy goes out to the owners, staff, patrons and the community, present and past.

Dearly Departed-The Voices of the Clark Norris Museum | Bureau County History Center 07/24/2025

SAS has once again partnered with the Bureau County Historical Society to explore their historical buildings from a paranormal perspective. Last year we investigated the Clark Norris Home. This year we conducted four investigations of the Sash Stalter Matson Building which is the former Matson Public Library. Built during 1912 and opened in 1913, this building was operated as a public library until 2007.

All four investigations resulted in intriguing experiences as well as some interesting evidence captured using our extensive collection of equipment.

Below is the link to the presentation information and tickets.

We made it to the end of October a little tired out after all the public investigations and presentations we did but none-the-less appreciative for everyone we worked with and all those who participated in our events. Have a great Halloween and Fall season everyone.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Modern Ghost Hunting presentation at the Hedberg Library. We had a great audience and we had lots of interesting questions after the presentation. A special thank you to Public Service Librarian Kasandra. She made sure we had everything we needed to do a smooth program plus she started the evening with an informative presentation on how to research the history of your own haunted house. Hopefully we will be doing future events with the Hedberg LIbrary as they lean into their own haunted history.
