Tim Cullen Government Institute

It is with great sadness that I share that Senator Tim Cullen has passed.

I have had the pleasure of working with him for over 20 years with the internship program he created to help give Janesville students an opportunity to experience state and local government.

I am grateful for his dedication and commitment to the City of Janesville and the State of Wisconsin.

On behalf of the more 100 hundred student interns and myself, rest in peace, Tim.

Here are some highlights of the last week and a half:
Dan Cullen of JP Cullen; City of Janesville day, hosted by Nick Faust and Kevin Lahner; Janesville police, fire, wastewater management, city clerk Lori Stottler, parks, and recreation and economic development; Rock County courthouse, county administrator, county clerk, clerk of courts, district attorney’s office, public works, Rockhaven, the County Jail, the health department, and 911 Communication Center; Katharine Grafft of Dillon and Grube law firm; Patrick Gasper of the SDJ; Wisconsin State service agencies (Audit Bureau, Fiscal Bureau, Legislative Reference Bureau, and Legislative Council); Representative Sue Conley; and Senator Mark Spreitzer.

Tomorrow, we will be meeting with Attorney General Josh Kaul and former Governor Marty Schreiber.

Thursday, we will conclude the nine day program with a meeting with school board commissioner Greg Ardrey. Immediately following at 10:30, interns will make presentations to the public. Feel free to join us at Parker High School in the small auditorium.

2023 interns with Senator Cullen

Coffee with Attorneys Katharine Grafft and Duffy Dillon. Then another busy day in Madison. Molly Beck, Birrau chief from the Journel Sentinel; lunch at the Madison Club with Governor Thompson and Senator Cullen; and Sen. Mark Spreitzer.

Spent the last two days in Madison meeting with the government service agencies; Jenny Dye, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor; Attorney General Josh Kaul; and Rep. Sue Conley. Plus a quick tour of the State Capitol.

2023 Cullen Interns start the Institute today. Interns include:
