Today, the staff and students at Van Buren Elementary dressed in red, white, and blue to show unwavering support for our fellow colleagues, students, and families facing the devastating flooding that closed Washington Elementary.

We cannot imagine how incredibly hard it would be to lose your physical school building and the daily comfort of your unique school community. But if this experience has taught us anything, it’s the power of resilience.

Van Buren Elementary, and the School District of Janesville, could not be prouder of everyone’s dedication, positivity, and strength during this transition.

To Adams Elementary and Madison Elementary staff, students, and families…thank you for opening your hearts, doors, and minds to new neighbors.

To our fellow School District of Janesville employees, thank you for supporting the Washington staff and students during this challenging time!

There were 186 orders placed for a total of 230 pieces. That means we were able to raise $724.50 for Mr. Peerenboom (principal of Washington) to use however he would like in support of his staff and students. ❤️🤍💙

You are not alone, and by wearing red, white, and blue we hope to send a clear message to our colleagues, kids, and families that we are in this together, and stronger together!!💪

Students participated in our last SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) celebration for the year! Station choices included…fingernail painting, temporary tattoos, drip-drip-drop, flag football, extra recess with popsicles, B-I-N-G-O,  no bake cooking, dance party, and coloring/arts-n-crafts just to name a few! 🎉

Our trimester 3 SEL-abration rewards students for good behavior choices, demonstrating leadership, earning eagle bucks, and following Van Buren expectations! Way to go! Continue to finish the year strong Eagles! 🦅 💪

Yesterday classes got together to do a final activity of the year with their buddies. It was a beautiful day for a story walk around the track! Older and younger students worked together to read The Flower Thief by Alice Hemming. It looked like everyone was having a great time. The students have done so many fun activities together this year, and it's always so nice to see the older students being such good helpers to their younger buddies. We love our Van Buren Eagles!
