Congratulations Mr. Duvall! π We thank you for your dedication to Jackson Elementary and wish you the best in your retirement!
Please join us in congratulating Michael DuVall, physical education teacher at Jackson Elementary School, Janesville, WI, on his retirement! His career in the School District of Janesville spanned 32 years!
Before joining the SDJ, Michael earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from UW-Whitewater. He later obtained his Master's degree in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University.
"Jackson Elementary is the school I attended and the school I taught at for 32 years. I will always be a tiger at heart," he said.
"The best part of my career is knowing I have changed many lives of the students I have worked with. Students grow by moments of teaching that does not alway show on standardized tests. The smiles, 'Good Mornings' and the students' enthusiasm is something I will miss."
Congratulations, Michael, and thank you for your years of dedicated service. We hope you find retirement equally fulfilling!

πΊπΈ America 250 Celebration πΊπΈ
π As we prepare for the United States Semiquincentennial (Americaβs 250th anniversary), our district is participating in a statewide effort directed by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) as a celebration of our country's history.
π We began our assembly by watching an opening video from Superintendent Holzman explaining America 250 and the reasons the songs selected for singing were chosen. The music teachers were tasked with teaching our students the songs and the art teachers supported the event by creating a district-wide project, which is the backdrop for Superintendent Holzman's video.
πΆ Each school recorded its students and staff singing the three songs and the videos will be compiled into one large video featuring all the elementary schools to share with the community.
π₯ Stay tuned for the final video! We are so proud of our students for working so hard on their songs and artwork in preparation for this event.
π€π¨ Special thanks to our music teacher, Mrs. Hawley, and our art teachers, Ms. Kohn and Mrs. Schaum, for their work in making this event possible.

π² Galimoto Engineering π²
Today kindergartners in Ms. Royβs class engineered their own galimotos during science. They were able to use skewers, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, string, wire, tape, wheels and more to create their toy to match their design. Their toy had to move forward and backward using push and pull movements. They persevered, problem-solved and presented their galimotos, just like real engineers!
