Jane Lew School Alumni Jane Lew High School The furniture was scanty and crude and the walls greatly needed paint. Jane Lew High School was the heart of its small community.

In the fall of 1912, amid much opposition and many difficulties, a high school of third class was opened by the people of the Jane Lew Independent District. Yet with these unattractive surroundings, the students began to get a tast of that for which they had so longed, KNOWLEDGE. Its scholars and sports teams were local heroes. The school sat high on a hill overlooking the town and valley bordered

by Hackers Creek. The last graduating class was in 1966. It continued as a junior high until 1982 and was demolished in 1983 because of oil-soaked floors and a design considered a modern day safety hazard. It remains only in the hearts and memories of those who entered its doorways.

It has been a busy offseason. We were successful in receiving two grants to improve the market for 2025!

$4,964.51: Mini-grant program by West Virginia Farmers Market Association funded by West Virginia Department of Agriculture.
This will fund our "Enhancing Customer Engagement" Project through new signage, shade structures, bench seating, PA System, and more!

$1,800.00: Lewis County Community Foundation Grant. This will help fund our Lewis County Farmers Market concert series and continue offering great musicians every Friday for our community to enjoy.
