🎥 WATCH: We have a very exciting announcement from Lincoln Elementary School!

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education has approved the appointment of Michelle Buccola as principal of Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, effective Aug. 26. She succeeds Katie Russo, who recently joined the JPS district office as Executive Director of Information & Student Services.

Lincoln families received a special message from Mrs. Russo and Ms. Buccola this evening as Mrs. Russo said goodbye to the Lincoln community and helped welcome Ms. Buccola as the school’s next principal.

Ms. Buccola comes to Lincoln after serving as assistant principal at Persell Middle School since 2024. She brings more than a decade of experience as an educator and a thoughtful, student-centered approach to leadership.

“I am incredibly honored to build on the strong foundation Mrs. Russo established at Lincoln Elementary and am so excited to get to know Lincoln’s students, staff, families, and community,” Ms. Buccola said.

📚 It’s almost time to welcome our students back!

The first day of school for all Jamestown Public Schools students is Wednesday, Sept. 2. Thursday, Sept. 3, and Friday, Sept. 4, will be full days of school.

Schools will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.

We can’t wait to see our students on Sept. 2! 🎉

👏 The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education has appointed Katie Russo to serve as Executive Director of Information & Student Services, effective Aug. 12! Mrs. Russo succeeds Jessie Joy, who is retiring after 33 years of service to the district.

A proud 1990 graduate of Jamestown High School, Mrs. Russo has devoted her entire career to JPS. She began as a teacher at C.C. Ring Elementary School in 1994 and has served as principal of Lincoln Elementary School since 2013.

“Having spent my entire career in Jamestown Public Schools, I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve the district in this new role,” Mrs. Russo said. “While it will be difficult to leave the Lincoln community, I look forward to supporting students, families and staff across the district. I am grateful to Jessie Joy for her many years of leadership and service, and I am committed to building upon that strong foundation while working collaboratively to meet the needs of every student.”

In her new role, Mrs. Russo will oversee the district’s pupil personnel services — including special education, counseling, health services and family engagement — as well as its information technology services.
