Fletcher After School Program

Fletcher After School program ended our final day with a mini carnival put together by Ms. Jill & Ms. Julia and donations from all of our wonderful staff.

Students had a blast attending different stations, earning tickets, and trading for prizes.

As we are sad to see our 4th graders moving on, we are so proud and excited for their next endeavors. Our 4th grader Kiara and mom Johanna, donated a new tent for our program as a parting gift and we couldn't be more thrilled.

Truly shows this community cannot be replicated, we have some of the best students, faculty, and family.

After school program had such a great time participating in Wilbur's Fair on Wednesday. 🐷🐷

Ms. Hailey helped our students in Sunshine Squad craft their very own kites. They were each able to decorate their own kite and discussed what properties of kites keep them soaring in the sky. 😎🪁☀️

Sign Language Instruction with Mr. Saunders.

3rd & 4th graders practiced basic ASL (American Sign Language). Students volunteered to display the signs, and Sunshine Squad( our 3rd & 4th graders) practiced along.

ASP has been busy with SEL (Social Emotional Learning), and Nature Science.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and our theme is "Mindfulness" searching out tools to help us understand our emotions and socialize with one another respectfully.

Nothing will have you smiling more than seeing the confidence these students have and smiles after completing a task. 😊😄

Ms. Jill has been working with students on Social Emotional Lessons & Activities (SEL).

Students have been having a great time developing crafts and learning different ways to grow with our emotions.

We had a great "Celebrate our Planet" activity day where we were visited by Starbucks Volunteers who helped us with crafts and played some fun outdoor activities.

Students have been learning about "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" and how important it is to take care of our planet in all the ways we can.💚💙💚💙

K-1ST students had such a great time acting out skits during our visitor Ms. Hillary's "Performing Arts" Activity. Students enjoyed dressing up in costumes and acting out the story.

We participated in the Coldest Night of the Year family event, the Celebrate Black History family event, Ms. Alize visited and celebrated Black History Month with us, and Ms. Hillary visiting and provided Theater Arts activities, and we enjoyed a bit of the nice Spring like weather before all the snow return.

Fletcher After School Program is working hard to support the YWCA's "Coldest Night of the Year" Fundraising event. ❄️❄️

Students will be showing support by decorating encouraging posters and crafts, and discussing being compassionate and respectful to all people. 💙💙

Students will do a short walk to show their support for the event on Friday February 17th 2023 at all of the YWCA after school sites. 🚶🚶🏿‍♀️🚶‍♂️

The YWCA's official CNOY event is Saturday February 25th 2023. Any volunteers interested in supporting the event can speak with any YWCA staff. Anyone interested in donating may do so online.

Ms. Jill's students had a great time designing their very own planet. Including different material and colors. Some students designed creative "alien" animals. Others were not so friendly to their inhabitants and gave them base temperatures of -200,000°F. Yikes! 🥶There may have been a planet based off of cookies as well. Yum! 🍪 Safe to say these students are brimming with creativity.

Between Arts & Crafts, Reading Rockstars, and Soccer our ASP students have been working hard and maybe having some laughs and fun in the process. 🙌

Students have been working hard in arts and sculpture, working on measurement in Speedometry, and discussing new goals for the year.

Vendors such as the Girl Scouts of WNY visit 3rd /4th grade girls every Wednesday and always supply such great experiences for the girls to earn their badges.

We worked on circuits and the girls worked hard to make their devices light up.

Fletcher ASP participated in Trunk or Treat with the PTA this year. So many great costumes. 🎃🎃

The theme of our Creative Play Activity was "Halloween". In all Play Doh fashion our ASP students went all out. 👑👑

Students played a Halloween inspired sight word board game, they had a blast rolling the soft dice and using candy as their game pieces.😋

Welcome back Fletcher ASP 2022-2023. 🎉🎉

Ms. Jill's Sunshine Squad are enjoying a Friday Funday in the fabulous weather. Students will be divided into different Squads based on grade level. At present we have Smile Squad & Sunshine Squad.

We had such a great first week back. Student's have been working hard to get back in the groove. Our monthly theme is in conjuction with Fletcher school: Responsibility. Themes will change in program each month and we will try to tie our themes into our activities.

Activities this month include Arts and Crafts, Math Facts, Silly Science, Physical Fitness, Mindfulness/Social Emotional, Chautauqua Striders & Girl Scouts of Western NY.

YWCA Fletcher Summer LEAP had a blast encouraging literacy development, working to prevent the "summer slump" working on it the only way we know how by getting creative and developing engaging activities and lessons. Students worked hard on their reading and writing. 📖📖

Students took part in Scholastic literacy activities daily, were able to meet with Fletcher teachers to work on academic achievement, met with visiting vendors from Safety Village, Sukanya's Dance, Salvation Army, Prendergast Library, Rocky's Karate, Mr. Nathan & Ms. Hailey's Reptile Show, Farmer's Market, Girl Scouts, and Audobon.

Students took a field trip to the Audobon and had fun digging for bugs, and walking amidst wildlife.🐍🐞🦗

Ms. Leslie put together a Robot creation week, in which students donated recycled materials and worked on creating their own robots.⚙⚙

Students and families were treated to a "photo selfie board" the final week where they could take pictures of themselves and families with their very own masks students got to create.📸📸
