Cal-Wood is located on 1,200 acres of ponderosa pine and spruce/fir forest, at elevation 7,800 feet, surrounded by the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest . Abundant wildlife includes deer, elk, mountain lion, black bear, bobcat, coyote, and countless species of birds and small mammals. Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, we are 15 miles northwest of downtown Boulder, just outside Jamestown, Colorado.

Ospreys are a common sight along Colorado’s Front Range in the summer months, and we’re lucky to have them right here at Cal-Wood.😍 Always fun to keep an eye on the water — you never know when you’ll catch a show like this. 🐟🦅

Throwback to one of the most magical nights of our year. 🌙🎼

We’ve been sitting with the memories of Music + Moonlight past — the fire pit glowing, true community showing up for one another, love circled all the way around as we raised our lanterns to change so many lives.🏮

It was never just a night under the stars. It’s proof of what happens when a community decides no child should be left out of the outdoors — kids and families across the Rocky Mountains getting access they might not otherwise have, simply because enough people showed up and gave.💜

We can’t wait to feel that love again this weekend. 🏔️✨ Thank you to everyone who made it happen — whether you bought a ticket, volunteered your time, or sponsored the night. We are so excited to see you this Saturday!

Fall is one of our favorite times at Cal-Wood 🍂 — leaves changing, that first cool air that actually feels good on your skin, hikes that look completely different than they did in July. ⛰️ And if you’re paying attention, the birds are telling you all about it. 🐦

Watch closely and you’ll catch them prepping for winter right in front of you. 🍁 It’s a great time to get a taste of what Colorado bird life looks like this time of year.

Calling all Front Range teens (14-18) — the Youth Exploring Stewardship Conference is back! 🌿 Spend October 10th-11th getting outside, digging into stewardship projects, and connecting with other young people who care about the land. ⛰️ Go all weekend with an overnight stay, or join us just for the day Saturday — either way, it’s completely free.😁

Thank you to all the artists who applied to be part of Cal-Wood Birdhouse at Chautauqua this year 💛 Every application is a reminder of how many people care about this place and each other!

Every birdhouse starts from something that was such a wound on our community, on Cal-Wood, and on the land ⛰️And every year, we get to watch that same wood get shaped into something bright and full of life, headed off to find a new home 🎨🐦 That’s why this collaboration with Colorado Chautauqua means so much to us — it’s not just a showcase of how this community shows up for one another, it’s proof that something so hard can be repurposed into something beautiful, something that really represents who we are as a community.
