This morning we celebrated the graduation of our 2017 Chemistry Major: Lance Kotter. Lance could not attend last Saturday's ceremony since he was with his teammates in the conference tournament. It was a short but sweet ceremony this morning. The southpaw leaves Jamestown headed towards South Dakota where in a few months he will begin his work on the road to a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. We know Lance will be a success down south. Congrats Lance!

The Mel Arnold Department of Chemistry wishes everyone a Happy Midterm Break 2016. We've reached halftime. Just enough time to make some adjustments for the second half and get midterm grades in on time.
The department is anticipating early senior seminars this year as we are on pace to have all senior seminars presented in the second half of this semester. Details will be posted soon.

Michael Anderson, Junior Biochemistry Major and nicknamed "Answer Key" Anderson, earned the Jerry Knoblich Organic Chemistry Award for 2015 announced on May 14th at the UJ Awards ceremony. Mike dominated the course from start to finish and his relentless pursuit of perfection was a hallmark of his efforts during his year in organic. Mike won the General Chemistry award in 2014 and is only the sixth individual to win both awards in the past 16 years! Congrats to Michael!

The General Chemistry Award for 2016 was announced at the UJ Awards ceremony on April 14th. This year the award was earned by Talitha Hirschkorn and Samantha Pearson. Both were all smiles during and after the award presentation. However, unnamed sources were reporting that they were both back within hours after winning already diligently preparing for the national Gen. Chem final exam slated for 8 AM on May 3rd. They both look to knock the national exam out of the park! Congrats to Talitha and Samantha!!
