Hello my FB family and friends,
As I stand here today at the end of nearly four decades—39 years and 11 months—of service with the City of New York, across different agencies, my heart is overflowing with gratitude.
First and most importantly, I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for giving me the strength and guidance that carried me through every challenge.
A massive thank you to my incredible wife, Bridgette, my son (DJG$Money), and my grandson, Dawson. You three were the reason I showed up to work every day. This journey was never mine alone—it was ours.
My career was defined by the opportunity to serve two of this city’s most vital missions: providing a foundation for families at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and offering a lifeline of hope through the Department of Homeless Services (DHS).
To my colleagues, past and present: Thank You!!
We faced complex, demanding moments—but we faced them together. Whether it was solving maintenance issues, navigating housing policies, or placing a family in need, we were a team. You shared the work, but you also shared the laughter, the advice, and the camaraderie. The success of these 39 years and 11 months truly belongs to the village that rode with me. I will cherish those friendships forever.
Serving the residents of New York City has been the honor of a lifetime. But now, it’s time for a new chapter—one filled with more time for reflection, more moments with my wonderful wife, watching my son continue to grow into the amazing man he is, and enjoying every moment with my grandson, Dawson—an extraordinary young man.
It’s time to slow down, focus on my faith and my future, and appreciate the blessings God has given me.
To my family and friends:
I want to first thank my immediate incredible Hawkins family starting with my Mother Janet Hawkins and Father Jesse Hawkins (R.I.P.) for giving me the gift of life and raising me to be the man that I am today. I am truly grateful for my sisters & brothers for riding this journey with me including Jesse Jr., Warren (R.I.P), Derek, Lisa, Ratski, Timothy, Charisse, Jamel. Thank you to a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Thank you again for riding with me for four decades.
I wish you all the very best, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for us all.
CHEERS! 🥂
Here’s to the next chapter.
