Our program trains students not only as actors for the stage but as empowered individuals in their own lives. WHY TAKE AN IMPROV CLASS?

We teach communication, collaboration, and critical thinking through the process-oriented study of theater and improvisation. Improvisation trains the whole person, from the toes up not the neck up. And in today’s world, where it is almost acceptable to have conversa

Celebrating Three Years of UNTOLD STORIES produced by The Florida Theatre. As the Artistic Director, I am thrilled to mark the incredible success of UNTOLD STORIES over the past three seasons!
As I head into tonight's performance, I'm feeling a deep sense of pride and gratitude. I've directed all 12 of these evenings, coached 72 amazing Jacksonvillians, helping them shape their stories. These stories have touched my heart and inspired me deeply.
Thanks to the Florida Theatre's commitment to bringing the community together through storytelling, and with the support of the Wolfburg Foundation we have offered:

Three Seasons of Excellence: We’ve brought diverse narratives to life, showcasing the depth and richness of untold stories from all walks of life.

Community Engagement: Our performances have fostered a strong sense of community, bringing people together through shared experiences and meaningful dialogue.

Innovative Storytelling: From traditional tales to contemporary issues, our innovative approach has captivated audiences and pushed the boundaries of what storytelling can achieve.

To celebrate this milestone, I invite you to our special Summer-themed performance tonight. Experience the magic, the emotion, and the artistry that has defined UNTOLD STORIES.

Exactly a week before the Florida Theatre UNTOLD STORIES event I called Jessica Havener and asked her if she had a story for the theme, Fork in the Road. Unfortunately one of our storytellers has to suddenly drop out and fly home due to a family emergency.
We brain stormed some ideas and by the next day she had written some moments that surfaced connected to this idea.
By yesterday, Sunday, she delivered a detailed image-laden story, emotionally connected and with gestures. Pretty outstanding.
The reason I asked Jessica is that she has been in storytelling/improv classes for a year now. She understands the craft of embodied oral storytelling from the weekly work outs in class.
Brava Jessica! So proud of you.
To all my students I invite you to come out and witness the magic.
