In one of our weeks "Meeting a Master", we looked at the work of the famous artist, Mary Cassatt. She liked to paint people in daily life, including a young girl wearing a hat. From her, we created our own person wearing a hat, with our focus on practicing creating a face with eyes, nose and mouth in proportion. Plus we included adding a pattern to the hats we created. Here is a sample of how some of them turned out!

This class is 2 Programs in one! “Meet The Masters” is an Award-Winning Art Education program especially for students being Home-schooled. It was designed by teachers and fits educational standards in Art. The focus is on “Meeting” a master artist in history. Students then get to apply whatever Art technique that artist specialized in and create their own Art piece.
The “Exploration in Art” portion of the class is more of a creative opportunity for kids to explore the many different ways they can create Art. It looks as varied as creating an Alligator out of Paper Mache or Habitats for small creatures from items found in Nature. The focus here is on having fun in the process of creative discovery!
