I know the curriculum options can be overwhelming. But here is a very basic filter for you to run them through.

❌ Children’s bodies are not meant to sit still to learn
❌ Meaningful learning doesn’t happen on a worksheet
❌ Literacy does not happen developmentally for most children until at least age 7
❌ Tests, quizzes, and other performative assessments are not good measures of learning progress

Every child is unique. Their learning journey is unique. Their curriculum should match that uniqueness.

Start, stop, speed up, slow down, start new, re-do... it's all up to you!

Newsflash. Homeschooling doesn’t have to follow traditional school years or schedules.

Wanna start in November? Cool.

Wanna take two months off at the holidays? Do it!

Wanna do middle school topics with your 3rd grader? Heck yeah!

You’re not obligated to have official start dates or post Back to School photos.

You don’t have to feel pressured to BEGIN something you or your child aren’t ready for just because the calendar is a certain date.

Break free, people. You get to decide. 💪🏼

A challenge for you: spend as much time trusting that your kids will turn out just fine with bright happy futures as you do worrying that they won’t. Ease yourself into optimism.

You might be amazed at how much your children flourish when they don’t have to internalize and neutralize your fears and worries.

After all: none of us has been to the future. Who knows? Your children may blaze a trail you didn’t even know they could take! (My adult kids have proven that to me.)
