I try not to post these but I think we are close to 20 kids dying this WEEK in Florida from something preventable. When does it stop? These poor kids. Jacksonville, Orlando, Fort Pierce, Panama City, Pensacola the list goes on. This is just Florida. Then we’ve got Georgia, California, Texas, Pennsylvania just this WEEK. I’ve had several parents share with me how their kids fell off the steps this week and they got to them. That’s just the people I know that got lucky. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE teach these babies to swim and float. Put the phones down and keep eyes on the kids. Academy of pediatrics states to start them in lessons by age 1. A few months of lessons can save their life. The number of deaths are SOARING. This has to stop! Be their voice. Give them their life saving skills and keep them safe.

Two 5-Year-Old Twins Drown at Kissimmee Rental Home

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 11:04 a.m. reporting two children unresponsive in a residential swimming pool at a vacation rental property on Ruby Red Lane. Emergency responders arrived and transported both children by air ambulance to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Despite lifesaving efforts, both girls were pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Many drowning incidents occur when people are actively swimming or simply spending time around water. Infants, toddlers, and children who are not yet water competent should always have an adult within arm’s reach, providing constant “touch supervision.” Learn more about supervision at: https://ndpa.org/supervision/

I will never stop being the voice for these innocent lives. Number one cause of death yet preventable. This week Indian River. 6 days ago Port St.Lucie. If they all made the news would people start to see? So many of our local kids each year. Academy of pediatrics says kids should start swimming lessons by age 1. Not dance or soccer but swimming lessons. Everyone has excuses, everyone thinks it won’t happen to them, everyone thinks someone else is watching the child or they don’t like their child crying in lessons due to mom attachment. PLEASE do your part to start preventing these tragedies. Something preventable should not be the number one cause of death of these sweet babies 😔

We are thankful for Step Into Swim for another year of grants for our community. Working together to create a safer community that’s surrounded by water. Together we can all prevent drownings which is the number one cause of death in children ages 1-4 and second leading cause for 5 and up.
