🎩 Wear your hats this Wednesday 9/2!! 🧢

Here at Fred Douglass we set our learning goals to be highly important, attainable, and timely.
Students have been working hard all of August to complete their beginning of year tests and now it is time to set goals with each of them. 🎉

Your child is encouraged to wear some type of hat this Wed., Sept. 2nd as we celebrate goal setting as a campus, as a class and kid by kid.

Super exciting second day at FD! Our principals met with everyone to discuss school-wide expectations and procedures. They also reviewed our House System. Every new student got to draw out of the box and their colored pom-pom determined which house they will forever be a part of!

A little about the five houses:
💜🩶: Itancan, House of Leadership, Wolf
❤️💛: Songaa, House of Strength, Buffalo
💙🤍: Koda, House of Friendship, Falcon
💚💛: Gouyen, House of Wisdom, Owl
🖤🩶: Kitchi, House of Bravery, Bear

Every morning students sit with their houses in the gym. They can earn points throughout the day for their house. The house with the most points at the end of the nine weeks wins a bounce house party. They also get the big house trophy filled with candy. At the end of the each nine weeks, we have a color wars day where we challenge each student to dress head to toe in their house colors. Rewards are given each Friday during our school wide morning rallies for things like most spirited!

Tomorrow will be our first morning to sit in the gym so we can’t wait to have all the new students join into the fun! Reminder that parents must drop off their students in the car line. Doors open at 7:15!
