At a Committee of the Whole meeting before the October 21 meeting, BLDD presented the Board of Education with the final drawings of the transformed Jacksonville Middle School.

You will see that they have included a rather large wall decoration of Jonathan B Turner above the commons. We plan on having the commons named in honor of Jonathan Turner. This will be a highly used area for both the school and community. Meetings and gatherings at the building can be held at the "Turner Commons at JMS".

Here is the video from the August 6th community presentation on Vision117 Phase II. In this video I go through the process that was used to determine the next building that we will be completely renovating ... Lincoln Elementary.

I also cover our recent bond sale and how we were able to raise much more money than originally predicted, and plans for the future beyond Lincoln and Turner.

We hope to have the complete renovation of Lincoln completed before the beginning of next school year!

Turner Update: A new page has been created on the Vision117 website.

On May 21st, Architects from BLDD took a district team of educators on a site visit of three renovated schools in Des Plaines School District #62. The buildings in District #62 are of similar age and size to Turner Junior High. This trip offered Jacksonville School District teachers and administrators the opportunity to observe some specific Twenty-First Century changes that were made to help in the design process. It also allowed the team to witness the positive impact renovated buildings have on both the students and the community. Below are some pictures from the tour:

JSD117 is currently looking for an individual with experience in construction management/contracting to serve as the "Owner's Representative" for the Turner renovation/addition.

This person will serve as the direct expert for the Board of education during the construction and will work closely with the construction superintendent, architect, and district.

If you are interested, or if you know of someone that has the experience to fill this important role, the application and job description are posted at:

This is a part-time position. An ideal candidate is someone retired from the industry.
