💚 **Faculty Highlight: Cada White, DNP, BS, RN**

Meet Cada White, DNP, BS, RN, our Department Chair of Simulation & Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing!

Cada has a special connection to Jacksonville University, not only as a faculty member, but also as a proud JU alumna. After earning her BS in Finance from Butler University and her BSN from UNF, Cada went on to earn both her MSN and DNP from Jacksonville University. Her own journey at JU has been an important part of her professional growth and continues to shape the way she supports and engages with our students.

Outside of KSON, Cada enjoys running, swimming, biking, hiking, spending time outdoors, playing guitar, and spending time with her kiddo. And a fun fact about Cada? **She’s currently learning to play the guitar!** 🎸

She and her husband, Jonathan, have been married for 11 years and share their home with Nutella, their dog, and Oreo, their cat. 🐶🐱

We’re grateful to have Cada’s expertise, passion, and dedication as part of the KSON community! 💚

What does it really mean to live in poverty?

During JU's Poverty Simulation on 8/26/26, students got to find out. Nursing students stepped into the roles of individuals facing the everyday challenges of financial hardship. They were tasked to balance housing, food, transportation, childcare, healthcare, employment, and school- all while having limited resources to navigate complex societal systems.
Sixty-eight nursing students, our largest group ever, participated in the Poverty Simulation. This powerful hands-on experience challenged students to navigate the realities of poverty, helping them build empathy, strengthen advocacy skills, and enhance their understanding of the barriers many patients face in accessing healthcare and essential resources.
This immersive simulation goes beyond learning about poverty; it gives Nursing students an opportunity to experience the difficult choices, stressors, and barriers that can shape the lives of the patients they may someday treat. For future healthcare professionals, understanding these challenges is essential. Experiences like this help build empathy, recognize social determinants of health, challenge stereotypes, and better understand the circumstances their patients may face outside the clinical setting.
Providing excellent healthcare isn't only about the diagnosis. It's about treating the whole patient. Here at Jacksonville University's Keigwin School of Nursing, you'll get to learn that first hand!

On Wednesday, August 12, Jacksonville University’s Keigwin School of Nursing welcomed three incredible new cohorts: the Baptist Health Systems 12-month Accelerated BSN, Direct Entry Master’s in partnership with Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, and the Traditional undergraduate.
We are excited to begin this journey alongside our newest nursing students. Today marks the beginning of an educational journey that will prepare you to lead, serve, and make a lasting impact in healthcare.

On Wednesday, August 12, Jacksonville University’s Keigwin School of Nursing welcomed 70 new Nurse Practitioner students for orientation, ready to rise to the challenge and lead the future of advanced practice nursing.

These amazing students are stepping into a program that equips them with more than clinical knowledge. They're gaining the tools to lead change, serve communities, and shape the next chapter of healthcare.
