Leadership Jacksonville is a program through the Jacksonville, Texas Chamber of Commerce. About 15 students are chosen through an application process. Each student is sponsored by their company or organization. Students are from various companies and organizations around the community - banks, insurance agencies, schools, law firms, restaurants, self-employed persons, and many many more - all have
sent students through this program. A different topic is studied each month (Education, Tourism, History, Industries, State & Local Government, etc) and students tour many different places and meet people to learn about these areas. It is a one of a kind way to learn about the "behind the scenes" of our community. Students see and learn things they would otherwise never have the opportunity to see or learn. The mission of Leadership Jacksonville is to educate and encourage future (and current) leaders of our community. Some comments from past Leadership students:
"As someone who has taught leadership in a classroom, I was very surprised with what I was able to walk away with. The lessons were very appropriate for the mission of the group and what I got out of the program, was much more than what I anticipated. Not because I had low expectations, but because what I learned was that impressive." "Since I am not from Jacksonville, I wanted to learn more about the community that I serve. This is what I wanted to get out of the program and this is exactly what I got. The program more than met my expectations." "I didn't know what to expect, but man was it eye opening to see all the business and manufacturing in Jacksonville."
