Do you know a high school student interested in a career with pets or in helping animals in need? We still have a few spots left in our Ambassadors in Training program from July 1-3!

Students in rising grades 9-12 are invited to join us for a three-day exploration of animal behavior and enrichment, veterinary medicine, and pet adoptions. Participants will complete a variety of fun and meaningful projects benefiting the animals at JHS and have the opportunity to meet some of our dogs and cats available for adoption. All students will receive 12 hours of community service at the end of the program.

How to document community service hours: https://riverside33schoolcounseling.weebly.com/community-service.html

How to submit forms: Completed forms should be placed in the basket outside of your school counselor’s office. Forms completed over the summer should be submitted after school opens in August. Students will receive an email when their form is approved and submitted to the Records Department for recording on the student’s transcript.

Deadline to earn hours: Students should have all hours earned/documents submitted by end of semester 1, Senior year. This allows hours to be posted on the transcript in time for the Spring Bright Futures evaluation.

Additional benefits: Approved Bright Futures Community Service hours also count for
✅ Other scholarship programs
✅ National Honor Society
✅ AVID
✅ Gives student an opportunity to help their community
✅ Gives student an opportunity to gain experience in their college major interest area
✅ Gives students an advantage on college applications that ask questions such as: Tell us about a problem you recognized in your community and how you addressed it? Tell us about a time when you took personal leadership to solve a problem? How have you engaged in your community outside of school?
