In 1985, Pace Center for Girls opened its doors right here in Jacksonville to just 10 girls. More than 40 years later, the mission that started in our city continues to change the lives of girls and young women.

Today, on 904 Day, we celebrate our roots, our history, and the Jacksonville community that has believed in Pace girls from the very beginning.

🖤❤️ 904 DAY — AND PACE IS PROUD TO CALL JACKSONVILLE HOME! ❤️🖤

Today, as our community celebrates 904 Day, we’re celebrating a piece of Jacksonville history that is especially close to our hearts.

Pace Center for Girls was born right here in Jacksonville.

On January 7, 1985, Pace opened its doors to just 10 girls at Snyder Memorial United Methodist Church in downtown Jacksonville. Founder Vicki Burke had a vision: girls facing difficult circumstances deserved support, opportunity and someone who believed in their potential.

What started with those 10 girls in the 904 became something much bigger.

Over the past four decades, Pace has grown from one Jacksonville center into a nationally recognized model that has served more than 40,000 girls — but Jacksonville will always be where the Pace story began. ❤️

And more than 40 years later, Pace Jacksonville is still here, still serving Duval County, and still believing in the greatness of every girl who walks through our doors.

Today, we celebrate the city that gave Pace its start, the community that has stood beside our girls for generations, and every Pace girl, alumna, staff member, board member, volunteer, donor and community partner who has been part of our Jacksonville story.

🎃🏁 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! 🏁🎃

The Pace Jacksonville Amazing Race Fall Festival is BACK, and we need YOU to help make this special day a great one for our girls! 💙

Join us on Friday, October 30th for a day filled with fall fun, team-building, friendly competition and our signature Pace Amazing Race!

We have two volunteer shifts available:

🍂 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Help with morning activities, door decorating, Amazing Race setup, lunch preparation and more.

🏁 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Help with lunch, manage Amazing Race game stations, cheer on our girls, and assist with cleanup.

Whether you can give us a few hours in the morning or spend the afternoon in the middle of the Amazing Race action, we would love to have you join us!

It may only be September, but at **Pace Center for Girls, Jacksonville**, we’re already preparing to make Thanksgiving a little brighter for our girls and their families!

Each year, our incredible community comes together to provide **Thanksgiving Blessing Baskets** filled with everything a family needs to gather around the table and enjoy a special holiday meal together.

And we’re asking for your help again this year! 💛

🏆 CELEBRATING OUR VERY OWN HALL OF FAMER! 🏆

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Brianna Fears, our H.O.P.E./ Physical Education Teacher at Pace Center for Girls, Jacksonville, who was inducted into the William M. Raines High School Friends Sports Hall of Fame this weekend! ❤️🖤

Long before Ms. Brianna was encouraging our girls to push themselves, work as a team, and believe in what they are capable of achieving, she was building an impressive athletic legacy of her own.

A Jacksonville native and standout track and field athlete, Ms. Brianna's talent and determination earned her full athletic scholarships to both the University of North Florida and Benedict College. She later turned her experience as an athlete into a passion for coaching, education, and mentoring young people.

Today, we're fortunate to have that same passion at Pace Jacksonville, where Ms. Fears uses athletics and physical education to teach our girls lessons that extend far beyond the gym—perseverance, teamwork, communication, accountability, self-discipline, resilience and confidence.

As Ms. Brianna says:

“The lessons learned in sports don't end when the game is over.”

Congratulations, Ms. Brianna, on this well-deserved honor! Your Pace family is proud to have a Hall of Famer helping inspire and empower the next generation of strong girls and young women. 💕🏆

Some projects are about more than making a space beautiful—they are about honoring a legacy. 💗

Upgrades to Mrs. Mary’s Boutique have already begun, and this project is especially meaningful to us because Ms. Mary Warner was able to see and approve the plans for the boutique before her passing. We had her blessing. ❤️

Ms. Mary poured more than two decades of love into this boutique and the girls of Pace Jacksonville. Knowing that she was excited about the improvements and approved the direction we were taking makes seeing them come to life even more special.

Today, we are incredibly grateful to the Pilot Club of Jacksonville, Florida for presenting Pace Jacksonville with a $3,000 grant to help us continue the remodel. Their investment will support important safety improvements, including replacing aging clothing fixtures with heavy-duty, commercial-grade hanging systems to create a safer space for our girls and volunteers.

And what makes this partnership even sweeter is that the Pilot Club ladies know Mrs. Mary’s Boutique well. They have spent countless hours volunteering in the boutique, organizing donations, helping our girls, and supporting our Family Nights. They aren’t simply funding this project—they have been part of it.

We are honored to continue creating the boutique Ms. Mary envisioned: safe, beautiful, welcoming, and filled with dignity for every girl who walks through its doors.

Thank you, Pilot Club of Jacksonville, for helping us carry Ms. Mary’s legacy forward. We know she would be smiling. 💕
