UNF Lend-A- Wing Pantry

Our Story

50% of college students will struggle with food insecurity at some point in their college career. If that number took you by surprise, you’re not alone. In a school of roughly 16000, this means that there could be 8000 students here facing food insecurity. We exist to help our UNF community and to fight food insecurity on college campuses.

In the Summer of 2011, the Executive Cabinet of Student Government created a new initiative. Because of the growing numbers of food insecure students, Student Government decided to adopt the concept of an on-campus food pantry that opened to the students on April 3, 2012. We are a Pantry that is for students, run by students.

The Lend a Wing Pantry, located on the first floor of Hicks Hall (Bldg. 53, near OneStop), is an anonymous food pantry that allows UNF students to get the food they need without any form of payment. The Pantry functions because of the generous and kind donations from our donors, partners, and campus departments. We are incredibly grateful for all that they do!

For students to enjoy the use of the Pantry, all they need to do is show up and show their Osprey1Card. The Pantry is anonymous, so we don’t need to see a name, just that the individual has a student ID.
