βοΈπ Summer is here, but learning doesn't have to take a vacation!
Keeping students engaged in reading, practicing math skills, and utilizing online learning platforms throughout the summer can help prevent learning loss and set students up for success when school starts again.
Whether it's reading a favorite book, practicing math through everyday activities, or spending time on educational programs available through the district, small amounts of learning each day can make a big difference. These opportunities help students strengthen important skills, build confidence, and stay on track for the new school year.
Let's make this a summer filled with fun, exploration, and learning! π

π Summer classes are in session, and Team Duval buses are on the road!
From June 8 through July 24, school buses will continue transporting students, and stop-arm cameras will remain active.
In May alone, 3,197 citations were approved for drivers who failed to stop when a school bus stop arm was extended.
Remember:
β‘οΈ Two-Lane Roads: Both directions stop
β¬οΈβ¬οΈ Multi-Lane Roads: Both directions stop
π£οΈ Divided Highways: Vehicles behind the bus must stop; opposite-direction traffic may proceed with caution
When you see the stop arm, STOP. Together, we can help keep our students safe throughout the summer. ππ

What a fun experience today! Officer Willie Perry and I had the honor of being guests on WJCT, our local PBS station, to talk about his remarkable 46 years of service and the book celebration our school community surprised him with.
I think Officer Perry thought he was retiring, but instead he's found himself on a book tour! From school celebrations and book signings to radio interviews and now PBS, it's been amazing to see so many people come together to celebrate a man who has impacted generations of students.
Thank you to WJCT for helping us share Officer Perry's story and the message behind The Legend on the Sidewalk.
"Not every legend is found on a stage or stadium fieldβsometimes they are found on the sidewalk."
