April has given us lots of things to celebrate! In mid-April we got to celebrate our Children of Military Families. Being in a Navy town and a Purple Star Designated School we know the hard work and sacrifice that our service members and their families make for our country. We were able to host families for a picnic on Wednesday, and got to hear our band play the Star Spangled Banner. Then on Friday, we had our annual Color Run and left covered in purple! Thank you!

For Women’s History Month, students in Ms. Swearingen’s History class looked at quilting as a way women could share their voice on society and politics - in a time when their rights were limited. After analyzing historical quilts, the students participated in a “Quilting Bee” and each student made their own quilt square to contribute to a large class quilt!

At JWJ, we are constantly trying to create learning experiences that go beyond the textbook, and provide hands-on, memorable experiences that students carry with them even after they leave our campus!

Excited to announce our Trojan ELA students had the highest percentage of students of all middle schools completing their GRADE LEVEL EXACT PATH assignments for the third nine weeks! No wonder we were also the highest scoring middle school on FAST Reading PM2.

When we return from Spring Break, we’ll only have 29 school days remaining until FAST Reading PM3!
