A tribute video to my Art Buddy...
In the summer of 2012, while teaching a painting workshop, a kind lady came up and asked me if I taught painting classes. I told her I only teach occasional workshops and she seemed disappointed. She commenced to tell me that painting lessons were on her “Bucket List” and she was just diagnosed with cancer and was given six months to live. I soon found myself organizing a painting class for beginners… her kindness, her diagnosis, and her story coupled with prodding from the Holy Spirit were catalysts for my “How Great Thou ART” classes. Each class began with a short devotion to encourage and bless this kind lady. It wasn’t long before I realized that I was the one being encouraged and blessed by this Godly woman. The other students felt the same and before long the word spread and the numbers grew to the point I had to expand to two separate classes. Six months turned into a year and all the while the kind lady only spoke praises and never complained about her fate. One year turned into six… and even when remission gave way… I can hear her say… “This is a painting class not a pity party… let’s paint”. Thank you, God, for giving me six years instead of six months with Betty Brittain… I am a better person because of it.
A tribute to one special lady... One of my favorite artists... Betty Brittain.
