Thank you to all our Greenwood families for helping us reach our 70% family participation goal in the annual fund campaign this year! ๐
Having so many families supporting our growth and believing in our mission is truly incredible. The funds raised allow us to continue offering free after-school programming and help expand our guidance and mental health departments. ๐๐
We are stronger together! If you still wish to support our campaign, it remains open until May 31.

Did you know May 4-10 was Deaf Awareness Week? ASL students had to spend an entire day nonverbal, communicating only through signs or writing. Some of them completed the challenge for several days to earn extra credit! Here they are playing Deaf Uno. Thank you Ms Brunkala for your passion for ASL!

6th grade learning about the cycle of life! Thank you, Hiram the Cuban Tree Frog, for your academic contributions!
While environmental experts recommend the humane euthanization of the invasive Cuban Tree Frogs, we keep them as "class pets" and teaching tools. Keeping them in the classroom completely eliminates their threat to native frog species. They are cared for through the end of their lives and used to teach children about amphibians, invasive species, and responsible pet ownership.

Ms. Frankโs 7th grade American History class learned about the covered wagons on the Oregon Trail. We measured out the size of the wagon and students took items from the classroom to get an idea of the limited amount of space. They also worked together in groups to figure out which items would be the most essential needed for traveling the Oregon Trail.

๐ HUGE SHOUT OUT to one of our incredible Greenwood parents, Colin Connor !
This past weekend, Colin took on the grueling Jacksonville IRONMAN and absolutely crushed it! ๐ช๐โโ๏ธ๐ดโโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Completing an IRONMAN is no small feat. It takes months of intense training, immense mental toughness, and pure grit to tackle a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and a full 26.2-mile marathon back-to-back. Colin, we are so incredibly proud of your strength and determination!
But he didn't just race for himselfโColin used this massive challenge to shine a light on our Greenwood Expansion Campaign, raising over $9,000 towards our goal!
These funds will go directly toward adding a new building to our campus, allowing us to expand our guidance, mental health, and "Life After Greenwood" programming for our students.
Itโs not too late to support Colin AND the campaign! Let's help him push that total even higher.

Ms. Frankโs 7th grade American History class got to travel the Oregon Trail in a Choose Your Own Adventure game. Students broke into groups and worked as families to travel the Oregon Trail.
Together, they faced triumphs and trials. We chose items from a virtual store to fill our wagon. Each group was successful and made it safely to Oregon.

Photos from last week's annual Cap and Gown walk. From Mrs Herman: "This year, we are excited to introduce a new tradition: the Senior class has purchased and will dedicate a tree in honor of the Class of 2026. Each subsequent year, a new tree will be planted to celebrate our graduating class."
