Alden Road Exceptional Student Center serves students in grades 6 through 12 and transition ages 18-22. The population is composed of students who are enrolled in full-time exceptional student education (ESE) programs and are working towards a Standard Diploma based on State Standards Access Points. A multi-curricular delivery model is designed to assess and address individualized student goals wh

ile providing a comprehensive and systematic approach to learning. Students who qualify, can also receive services in Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational and Physical Therapy, Mobility and Vision Therapy, as well as Assistive Technology training, Employability and Life Skills training and Specially Designed Physical Education. In effort to further develop social skills and levels of independence, all students are afforded the opportunity to participate in Community Based Instruction. Planned community outings provide practice in making transitions and transactions with local merchants and recreational facilities. As students demonstrate competence in vocational and employability skills, a Community Based Vocational Education (CBVE) program is offered along with School Based Enterprises. In the CBVE program, students receive on the job training under the supervision of a job developer and job coach. Current job sites include: Burlington, Duval County Public Schools, Earthworks, ILRC, St.
