In his recent “Letter from the President,” AAP President Dr. Andrew Racine reminds pediatricians and parents that drowning prevention should start early. "We must embrace the mindset that all children should learn to swim – and they should start early,” said Dr. Racine.

In addition to swim lessons, the AAP recommends using several layers of drowning prevention including pool fences, life jackets and close adult supervision around water. Read his full remarks in AAP News: https://bit.ly/4gEIUpq

Hi! Kerry DuPree here! We have many new followers as Summer is in full swing! I wanted to introduce myself, as I am 1 of 4 wonderful instructors with ISR Jax NC!

I love being in the pool each day with my students! I love to see my students overcome obstacles, learn life saving skills and truly become Aquatic Problem Solvers! I love all the baby laughs and fun stories from older students! I love ISR because it works and many other programs just don’t work!

I have 5 children and 4 grandchildren! I still homeschool my youngest 2! My husband and I are active in Christian ministry! I have a full life and am blessed to do work that I love and keeps me near my family!

I know ISR is a big investment and sacrifice for my swim families! I want to thank you all for your commitment and encourage other families to consider lessons! Why??? Drowning in the #1 cause of accidental death in children 4 and under! We look away for 20 seconds to answer a text, we are busy putting sunscreen on another child, we check to see why the dog is barking.
In the time it takes for a child to draw with a sharpie on the couch, a lipstick on the walls, to flush the TV remote, to eat food from the dog dish...they could drown.
ISR can give so much peace of mind. Not because it is a substitute for constant supervision or for a pool fence, it is in case either or both of those break down.
