Sometimes Velo & Data Cant tell the whole story. Ryan had been feeling great, velo was where he wanted it. Once he got around to taking some video of the work he was putting in, we noticed his move down the slope was needing some attention. We were able to make some pretty large changes in a short period of time. We paired a Med Ball Shot Put with a Plyo Ball throw in two different drill sets to drive the changes we were looking to make. After a couple weeks we will re touch on the back side and adjust possibly to a progression of the drills he is doing daily.

Today is not a goodbye, rather an until we see each other again. Sunny left us this morning. Today i will find solace in knowing she is at peace, and in a much healthier place. There has been a lot of reflection in my mind these last few days. One thing that keeps coming up is how you never really understand what a dog teaches you until they’re gone. Each dog teaches you something different. Some teach you about yourself, skills for future ventures in life. Some purely teach you how to care for something more than yourself. In the end the lessons never leave you. In the end your left broken yet fulfilled with what they gave to you. I had the blessing of calling sunny my own for 8 years. She taught me most about what kind of standards you have to have for yourself when someone else is reliant on you. When you have to be there to provide for someone else that cant tell you their needs. She taught me what relentless enduring love is and feels like. She was there in my brightest hours and my darkest days. Same smile, same love. She loved with the purest intentions and fullest of hearts. I love you baby girl, until we meet again…

Looks can be deceiving. Swipe to see this play out piece by piece. Glove Side = Locations A A weak glove side can lead us down some very unrepeatable paths. The glove side here is turned over almost right at hand break. This leads us down a path of flying open, losing a lot of stability and repeatability within the throw. Going forward we will be heavily focused on getting him to get the “thumb down” or “show his palm to the catcher” getting that done will accomplish a lot for him. That will give him something strong to work against as he travels down the slope. It should force him to keep his center of mass from leaking down the mound. It also will most likely take care of some throwing arm position issues as well. All in all, creating a better glove side here can allow for a more consistent feel down the mound creating a stronger ability to command the zone. Glove Side = Locations FFS (Front Foot Strike) = Gas Pedal The lead leg follows along with the glove side. If the glove side steers us one way, lead leg will tag along for the ride. Watch how the glove pulls off just before the lead leg fly’s open to the glove side. While all this is happening the throwing arm is hanging out and about to try and play catch up aka arm lag. The next focal point for him is going to be cleaning up the direction and foot position @ FFS. The alterations to the glove side should majorly assist here. There is a lot of wasted energy to early here. (Think slamming the gas pedal on an icy road) when we get aggressive before FFS we just create a sense of spinning out/being underwater. Most of the time pitchers are unaware of their early aggression and it becomes a major lightbulb moment when they nail the timing of it for the first time. FFS = Gas Pedal
