In Part 1 of this CancerQuest interview series, Dr. Amy Keagy shares the deeply personal story of her cancer diagnosis—the early symptoms, uncertainty, and emotional impact of becoming a patient herself.

Dr. Keagy is a biology lecturer, scientific illustrator, artist, and educator with a Master’s in Botany and a PhD in Education. She teaches scientific illustration, loves plants and the natural world, plays the violin, and is also the artist behind the Cellular Journeys logo.

Her story brings together science, creativity, and resilience—offering a unique perspective on navigating cancer while balancing identity, purpose, and passion.
