Ruch Outdoor Community School

Ruch Outdoor Community School Ruch offers families a special, unique and ‘less traveled’ educational experience different from the mainstream practices employed in public education.

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and it has made all the difference.” - Robert Frost

Could it be that Robert Frost was speaking about Ruch Community School when he wrote this? Perhaps not, but it definitely resembles that of Ruch Community School’s mission to offer families a special, unique and ‘less traveled’ educational experience different from the mainstre

am practices employed in public education. With a place/community based focus, students are engaged in a hands-on, real world education that is made possible with the help from the community and the philosophy that becoming a contributing citizen means that their studies should include skills and practices that are applicable outside of school. With a 97% attendance rate, students in pre-school through 8th grade are finding that attending Ruch School – has made all the difference! MISSION STATEMENT:

Ruch Elementary School is committed to creating and maintaining a learning environment
that provides each individual the opportunity to excel academically, socially, physically, and emotionally. In partnership with the community, we will guide students toward lifelong success and responsible citizenship. WE BELIEVE:

1) All people can learn, given an opportunity and the appropriate environment
2) High expectations motivate learners to achieve their personal best
3) All people have unique talents and abilities and are worthy of respect
4) Students are responsible for their behavior and academic efforts
5) All people in the community contribute to the success of the school
6) Learning and performance are enhanced by positive self-esteem
7) Quality education encourages lifelong learning
8) The four components of literacy-reading, writing, listening and speaking are foundational to learning
9) Respectful attitudes foster good citizenship and school pride
10) Teamwork is essential in pursuit of educational goals

The Ruch Outdoor Community School PTO hosts an annual auction that benefits students and their learning opportunities. This is the 20th year of the auction. Some of the funds help support Katie Walker teaching art lessons and White Oak Farm facilitating our garden activities. Other more unseen things are the extras the classrooms provide, such as the books making our second grades students published authors. These are just a few of the items the auction helps provide, plus it is a super fun kid free evening!
Please see the attached invite if you would like to attend.
